A little page of news

Monday 9th July 2007 - Last October saw Susie's fourth book to be published,  and this October marks the 5th anniversary of Susie's "Language Report" collection, with the book "The Language Report: English on te Move, 2003 - 2007." I'm not sure whether this is going to be the final title of the book, or whether work on the title is still in progress.

Susie is still going strong on Countdown, with a change in host from Des Lynam to Des O'Connor, at the beginning of the year. I've also noticed Susie sporting a ring on her wedding ring finger. Wikipedia did say that she's married to a multimillionaire entrepreneur, but that information has since been deleted from the website. So, who knows?

This website is almost 4 years old now, and has had over 11,000 hits! Wow, there are a lot of you Susie fans out there!

Monday 28th August 2006 - Ok, it's an understatement to say that I have neglected this site, but I'm on a missin to update it! This site is almost 3 years old, and over the past couple of years it's had over 6000 visitors, showing Susie's enormous popularity!

Tuesday 7th June 2005 - Hey I must be psychic! I've just been on Amazon and seen that Susie is in the process of producing a 2005 version of  "The Language Report" book, called "Fanboys and Overdogs" I'm guessing, from the last two books, that it will be available in October. Another book for Susie fans to add to their collection!

In response to putting larger picures of Susie on this site, I can!! Yay! But the quality isn't that brilliant! I'll test it out during tomorrows Countdown. And as to how old Susie is - I've wondered that too! Does anyone now? Or would hazard a guess? Seeing as she's worked on Countdown since 1992, and would probably have spent at a few years before that studying to be a lexicographer, she must be mid to late 30s.

Monday 6th June 2005 - Apologies for a lack of updates, but there's not really much to update you on! I've added four more photos to the Susie Pics page, taken from the show broadcast on May 25th, when Susie was sat next to Michael Aspel.

I'm guessing that as I'm typing this, Susie has another "Language Report" book in the pipeline, so I'll be back to update you if I hear anything about it.

Friday 25th February 2005  - Finally, after months of neglect, this site has had a dust over and been updated! News about this site is that it's becoming more popular thanks to it appearing on the links page of www.thecountdownpage.com . Thanks for that Mike!

This week has seen Susie appearing beside Geoffrey Durham, one of my favourite dictionary corner guests, as, unlike many guests (sorry) he does something interesting!! I'm sure if you're a Susie fan, then you'll have seen all the Countdown's this week, so me regurgitating what went on will only bore you.

I found this website

http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/voices2005/expert.shtml

which has an interview with Susie from an Oxford radio station.

Also, this month saw Susie's daughter turn a year older, altogether now....aaaaaawwwww!

Weather permitting, I'll be back in the near future with some more news to tell!

Friday 29th October 2005 - "Larpers and Shroomers: The Language Report" was published on October 19th, phew, panic over! Susie was interviewed about her book on the BBC breakfast show on Tuesday and the BBC website has a clip of the whole interview! The link below will take you there if you, like me, you wanted to tear your hair out when you only heard about the interview, after it had been broadcast!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/breakfast/3753376.stm

I was looking for "Larpers and Shroomers" in a book shop today and came across a bright yellow book called "Eats Shites and Leaves", it's a book about how to speak rubbish English and from the name, it's obviously a play on words of the book entitled "Eats Shoots and Leaves" but I wondered if it purposely had a cover that was similar to "Larpers and Shroomers", as "Eats Shoots and Leaves" and "Larpers and Shroomers" are both books about how to use the correct English language. If this is making sense to you then well done!

Because of Susie's book, the word "Chav" has become the buzzword of the year. A lot of people didn't know what the word meant, maybe it's just my generation who are familiar with it, as we encounter the horrid creatures on a daily basis! If you've never seen a chav, then just look out for people who are covered in sports branded clothes, with no intention of playing any sport, and have earrings the size of door knockers! If this is a description of you....get some help!

I've just heard Richard tell Susie to say "fantastic" to the camera! It's her word, so don't try to stop her from using it!

Saturday 16th October 2005 - What!? I don't understand!!? On some sites I've been to, it sounds as if people had got hold of copies of "Larpers and Shroomers" long before the publish date, which I thought was October 14th. But on other websites it says it won't be published until October 31st! So has it been published yet or not?

Saturday 2nd October 2005 - My thought of the day: Susie certainly has gained a lot more confidence over the past year or so, as she's being more talkative instead of being a robotic talking dictionary - which makes her even more likeable as the real Susie is beginning to shine through! Awww!

Just to let you know that "Larpers and Shroomers: The Language Report" is published on 14th October, in just under 2 weeks time. There is a timer on the homepage, counting down the days, but it lacks any decent animation and you can't even notice it as it blends in with all the other writing on the homepage! But I guarantee that if you refresh the homepage every few minutes, you will see the number of minutes decrease, which is proof that it's working - try it, you'll have fun for hours! So yes, 14th October - party day for Susie fans, so to speak.

Wednesday 22nd September 2005 - As I'm sure you're all aware, Susie celebrated her 1000th show this week! Woa! I haven't seen Wednesday's show yet, but I'll be sure to catch the repeat as it sounds unmissable for all Susie fans! I'm glad her 1000th show didn't go by unoticed...12 years she's sat there! How bored would you be? Sorry, no, Countdown is different to your average job, although the process of the show is the same every day (15 rounds, 11 words games, 3 numbers and a conundrum), no day would be the same because the people you'd mix with would always be changing and by the sounds of things Susie loves it - good for her! So congratulations Susie and here's to another 1000 shows, all with Susie, (I'm sure no one's said that before!) and hopefully, some interesting guests by her side!! Not that the present guests aren't intersting...you know what I mean!

Also, Susie's new book comes out in less than a months time, hoorah!
